A Step Beyond
Youth Development and Opportunity Programs such as A Step Beyond will focus on supporting adolescents by offering mentorship, creative expression, and opportunities to develop leadership and future pathways.
A Step Beyond is a new initiative created in response to a growing reality: many adolescents between the ages of 12 and 18 are navigating complex challenges, ranging
from social exclusion and lack of opportunity to emotional struggles and limited access
to creative and developmental spaces.
A Step Beyond was designed In collaboration with the National Institute of Arts and Mediawegwijs Netherlands to meet youth at a critical stage in their lives, a stage where identity, voice, and future direction begin to take shape. What makes this project unique is its integrated approach. Rather than addressing challenges in isolation, A Step Beyond brings together: Social-emotional learning (SEL) Creative expressions (arts, performance, storytelling) Media and digital skills (film, podcasting, blogs)
Through this combination, young people are not only supported in developing skills such as self-awareness and resilience but are also given the tools to tell their own stories, stories that reflect their realities, their struggles, and their dreams.
A Step Beyond supports young people aged 12–18 as they navigate an important stage in their social, emotional and personal development.
Developed in collaboration with the National Institute of Arts (NIA) and Mediawegwijs Netherlands, the initiative combines:
- Social and Emotional Learning (SEL)
- Creative expression through arts, performance and storytelling
- Media and digital skills, including film, podcasting and blogging
- Mentorship, leadership and personal development
Young people are encouraged not only to develop confidence, resilience and new skills, but also to find their voice and tell their own stories, stories that reflect their realities, challenges, talents and dreams.

A Step Beyond: Media & Digital Skills Track
In partnership with the National Institute of Arts (NIA) and Mediawegwijs Netherlands, the Media Learning track gives adolescents hands-on access to modern digital production tools while fostering critical media literacy and emotional self-expression.
Film & Cinematography
Camera composition, smartphone filmmaking, lighting setups, and boom-mic audio capture.
AI & Digital Literacy
Understanding generative algorithms, ethical digital citizenship, and online privacy.
Performing Arts (NIA)
Dance, expressive movement, stage presence, and theatrical improvisation.
Youth Storytelling
Podcasting, personal vlog journaling, monologue writing, and community showcase premieres.
